Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab (FAKTR)
FAKTR (pronounced FACTOR) is a concept, not a technique. The acronym stands for Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehab. FAKTR incorporates instrument-assisted soft-tissue mobilization technique in combination with function and treatment of the kinetic chain while in the position of provocation (pain, loss of range of motion, feeling of tightness within the fascia/soft tissues) and during motion.
FAKTR is a revolutionary way to treat soft tissue problems. It is effective for many conditions, ranging from headaches, back pain, shoulder problems, pain in the elbows, feet...just about any body part. Injuries can be caused by over use, falls, auto accidents, sports injuries, work related injuries and can have bothered you for a long time, or be a new condition. Most of these problems can be resolved within a few treatments.
Your FAKTR provider will do a complete examination and history of your complaint before determining if this is the best treatment for your condition. You might be treated by a FAKTR provider with instruments or possibly, just their hands. A treatment can take anywhere from a few minutes to up to half an hour, depending on your condition.
FAKTR is not effective on all conditions and is not appropriate for all patients. There are both indications and contraindications for the use of FAKTR. See your local certified FAKTR provider to find out if FAKTR is right for you.
What conditions can FAKTR treat?
FAKTR can treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as tendinosis (TENDINOPATHY), sprains, strains, entrapment syndromes, fascial restrictions such as plantar fasciosis and ITB syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes, adhesive capsulitis, shin splints, post surgical recovery and much more.
Is FAKTR designed only for athletes?
No, while FAKTR is a great way to treat athletes quickly, the concept can be applied to all ages and all body types. FAKTR is excellent for those involved in auto accidents, work related injuries, post surgical work including joint replacement, injuries suffered every day at home and conditions of daily living.
